Parent Advocacy
Connection (PAC)...
is a path to connect families to the services they need.

What
is the Parent Advocacy Connection (PAC)?
Our program assists children and families
as they navigate through the systems
designed to serve
children with mental health, educational, and/or drug and
alcohol issues.
Many families
who have
children facing these challenges often feel bewildered, stressed,
or intimidated as they attempt to
find available resources and services. A parent
advocate is a family resource and aims to help
families connect to the
services they need.
How
can PAC help your family?
While every family's needs are unique, a Parent Advocate aims to help you become
confident
and informed--ready to advocate for
your child. We can help you find services, but we can also
help you prepare to interact with
those service providers.
Specific
examples of assistance:
-
Help
families find a voice in planning and implementing services for children
-
Find
resources to assist in conversations with school personnel
-
Make
decisions about counseling or mental health services
-
Find
professional support when navigation a legal process
-
Become aware
of other support services, such as transportation, respite,
parenting
classes, support groups, financial assistance, etc.
-
Assist in
finding helpful materials and research
Who is PAC for?
If your child is involved in one or more agencies for behavioral health care
services, your
family may benefit from PAC.
Some example of agencies:
-
Behavioral
counseling
-
Drug/Alcohol
counseling
-
Anger
Management
-
Special
Education
-
Juvenile
Court
Who are Advocates?
Most Parent Advocates have "been there" and aware of the services or
programs your family
might need. Parent Advocates offer
information,, encouragement, and moral support as they
help you find and interact with supportive
services that best fit your family's particular needs.
What does PAC cost?
There is no fee for our services.
