Program Administration Scale: The Why, What, How                (CDA-5)
 This workshop tells about the skills children develop in a language arts early 
 learning center, equipment and materials that can be included and ways to 
 accomplish the many ideas provided. This session includes storytelling and 
 language arts ideas, easy props, patterns and information to enrich a child's 
 application of language and stories in a fun early learning center.
 PAS: Using the Program Administration Scale in Your Program
 Participants will utilize the scale through skill building scenarios, small group 
 discussions, and interpretation of scores. Participants will have hands-on 
 experience in using the scale as well as in using the tool in their individual 
 centers. Each administrator will create an action plan and support network 
 to use for implementation in each program. 

 WOSU:  Managing Children’s Conflicts                                          (CDA-3)

 The series, “A Place of Our Own”, along with a resource-filled website, 
 can help make your job as a parent or child care provider easier and more 
 rewarding. This interactive workshop will explore one of the many topics 
 covered in the television series: Conflict Resolution. You’ll learn the 
 difference between discipline and conflict resolution and how to help 
 children develop lifelong strategies that they can use to resolve conflicts 
 without being aggressive or violent. You’ll receive with a children’s book, 
 a set of activity cards, a full length copy of the Conflict Resolution episode, 
 colorful tip sheets to display in your home and more.                                          

 Health and Safety for Family Child Care:                               (CDA-1)
 This session is mandatory for all newly certified providers and 
 emergency/substitute caregivers.  The session covers the following topics:  
 Guiding Children's Behavior, Child Abuse and Neglect, Communicable 
 Diseases, First Aid, Home Safety, Food Safety and Nutrition.

 Ohio Early Learning Content Standards                                        (CDA-2)   
 English Language Arts, Session 1: – Reading
 Participants will examine ways to support literacy in the early childhood 
 environment through implementation of the Ohio Early Learning Content 
 Standards. Language experiences across the developmental areas, how 
 reading and writing is embedded into every day experiences, and how 
 teachers can support language and literacy development. Children learn 
 language within a social context.  Teachers can provide contexts that 
 encourage children’s language development through their intentional 
 planning.  This session will cover phonemic awareness, word recognition, 
 and fluency such as the use of rhymes, playing with sounds and speech, 
 and taking words apart.  Activities to support learning, acquisition of 
 vocabulary, and application of principles into the classroom will be explored.
 Note: The OELCS Overview is a prerequisite for this class.

 Getting a Handle on Transitions                                                      (CDA-3)
 Teachers frequently struggle with transitions.  Attend this session to 
 understand: Why transitions can be difficult for young children--and 
 teachers! What children's behavior during transitions tells us. How to plan 
 and conduct transition times effectively. Different transition techniques to 
 use for: meals; snacks; tooth brushing; naps; circle time; room transition, 
 outdoor/large muscle room transitions; and large versus small transitions.
 

 Guiding Children’s Behavior                                                             (CDA-7)
 This interactive session will help participants understand why children 
 behave the way they do and gives them tools to provide developmentally 
 appropriate guidance in the classroom. We will discuss observing and 
 recording behavior, the methods for handling behavioral issues and
 communicating with parents.
 

 Bringing Nutrition Education to the Classroom                            (CDA-1)
 Learn how easily nutrition fits with the Early Learning Content Standards. 
 We will discuss fun and interactive ways to integrate nutrition and health 
 into your day without adding another item on your to do list. Children’s 
 health and eating habits start at birth so it’s never too early to help them 
 learn to choose healthy foods and make activity part of their day. Leave 
 with a stack of resources to get your classroom ready for healthy and 
 happy children!
 

 The World Around Us:  The Multicultural Classroom                    (CDA-2)
 Join us for this interactive workshop and learn how to incorporate the 
 world's cultures into your classroom. Come and learn how to provide a 
 multicultural curriculum that will have a lasting impression on the children!
